Yılın Kadın Mimarları Ödüllendirildi

Architectural Review tarafından bu yıl beşincisi düzenlenen Women in Architecture ödülleri Londra’da sahiplerini buldu.
Dünya çapında başarılı kadın mimarların desteklenmesi amacıyla Architectural Review (AR) tarafından düzenlenen Women in Architecture ödülleri dağıtıldı. Ödüller, aralarında GAD Vakfı’nın kurucusu Gökhan Avcıoğlu’nun da bulunduğu, başkanlığını ve genel yayın yönetmenliğini Christine Murray’ın yaptığı, içlerinde Martha Thorne (The Pritzker Architecture Prize), Lord Foster (Foster+partners), Sir Terry Farrel (Farrels) ve Edwin Heathcote (Financial Times) gibi isimlerin olduğu on dört kişilik uluslararası bir jüri tarafından verildi.
Londra Claridges’de düzenlenen törende Odile Decq, günümüz mimarlık sektöründe kadın mimarların başarılarıyla öne çıkması amacıyla dağıtılan Jane Drew ödülünü, Julia Peyton-Jones ise Ada Louise Huxtable ödüllerine layık görüldü. Studio Gang kurucusu Jeanne Gang “yılın kadın mimarı” seçildi. Ambrosi Etchegaray mimarlık stüdyosunun kurucularından Gabriela Etchegaray ise Yeni Gelişen Mimarlık için Moira Gemmill Ödülü’nü aldı.
Jüri başkanı Murray, değerlendirme sürecinin oldukça ilham verici olduğundan bahsederken Jeanne Gang’in Arcus Center projesinin sosyal amaçla bütünleştiren bir girişim olmasından ötürü jüri tarafından oldukça beğenildiğini söyledi. Gabriela Etchegaray’in ise tasarımdaki gelişimi ve başarısıyla; Julia Peyton Jones’un ise mimarlığı pek çok insan için mümkün kıldığından ve sınırlı kaynaklarla yarattığı küresel etkiden dolayı jüriyi etkilediğini ifade etti.
